Before you book
Can You Put Anything In A Hired Skip?
Common and suitable items to place into a hired skip include household items, such as: wood, tiles, furniture, cardboard, garden waste and clothes. You can also place heavy building materials into a skip, including bricks, concrete, metals, rubble and stones. You cannot just put anything into a skip though, so be sure to read our checklist of prohibited waste before filling your skip.
Please note, no soil, muck, rubble or hardcore are to be placed into 12 and 14 yard skips.
What Cannot Go In A Skip?
While there are plenty of items and materials you can put in a hire skip, there are certain items that you definitely should not place into your skip. These include:
- Televisions
- Computer monitors
- Fridges/Freezers
- Car tyres
- Batteries of any kind
- Gas cylinders
- Fluorescent tubes
- Plasterboard
- Paint
- Asbestos
- Hazardous waste
How does hiring a skip work?
Give our team a call and we can discuss which skip size is best suited to your waste disposal project. We can also help arrange a road permit if required. Once you are happy with the quote, we will deliver your skip on your chosen date. When it is full, we will collect it and dispose of the waste responsibly.

How high can you pile a skip?
The general rule is that the waste should be kept level with the top of the skip. We recommend choosing a slightly larger skip if you are unsure how much waste you will have.
How long can you keep a skip for?
Our Wait and Load service is a quick 45-minute option, where our driver waits while you load the skip before taking the waste away.
For longer hires, the standard period is 10 days, although longer hire periods may be available. If a road permit is required, the hire length may depend on council requirements.
When do you pay for the skip?
Payment is made at the time of booking or upon delivery.
