Who we are

This website is run by AL Skips Ltd, a skip hire company based at Unit H, City Park, Swiftfields, Welwyn Garden City AL7 1GN. We are the data controller for the personal information collected through this website. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean AL Skips Ltd.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and will handle your personal data in line with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

Information you give us

When you use the quote form on our website, we collect:

  • your name, phone number and email address
  • your postcode, the date you need the skip and the skip size

We also hold the details you give us when you phone us, message us on WhatsApp or email us, such as your name, contact details, delivery address and information about the job.

How we use your information

We use the information you give us to:

  • reply to your enquiry and give you a price
  • book, deliver and collect your skip
  • arrange a road permit with the local council if your skip needs to go on the road
  • take payment and keep the business records we are required to keep

We process this information because you have asked us for a quote or a service (taking steps to enter into, and to perform, a contract with you), and to meet our legal obligations. We do not use the details from your enquiry to send you marketing.

Information collected when you visit our website

Like most websites, ours automatically receives some technical information when you visit, such as your browser type, device, operating system, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site (for example from a Google advert or search) and roughly where you are, based on your IP address. We use this to understand how the site is used, to improve it and to measure how well our advertising works.

We use Google Tag Manager to run Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement on the site. These use Google's Consent Mode, which works as follows:

  • If you click Accept on our cookie banner, Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies are set. These let us see how visitors use the site and which adverts lead to enquiries.
  • If you click Reject or don't choose, no analytics or advertising cookies are set. Google may still receive limited, cookie-free information (for example, that a page was viewed or a phone number was tapped), which Google uses to measure ad performance without identifying you through cookies.

Where we use cookies for analytics and advertising, we rely on your consent. You can find out more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Cookies we use

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Some similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in the same way, so we include them here.

Our quote form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that the form is being used by a person and not a spam bot. reCAPTCHA only loads when you start filling in the form, and its use is covered by the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Changing your cookie choice

You can change your mind at any time. Use the button below to clear your choice and bring the cookie banner back. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.

Who we share your information with

We never sell or rent your personal information. We only share it where needed to run our business and this website:

  • the local council, if you ask us to arrange a road permit
  • our website developer and the service providers that host this website and deliver quote form messages to us by email
  • Google, for the analytics, advertising measurement and reCAPTCHA services described above
  • our accountants, banks and payment providers, and authorities where the law requires it

Some of these providers, including Google, may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, it is protected by the safeguards required under UK data protection law.

How long we keep your information

We keep enquiry and booking details only for as long as we need them for the purposes above, including any period we must keep business and accounting records by law. After that, they are securely deleted.

Keeping your information secure

This website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, and we take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so while we do our best to protect your data, we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to our site.

Other websites

Our site links to other websites, such as Google, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. These have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. Please check their policies before giving them any personal information.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use your information
  • withdraw your consent to cookies at any time (see "Changing your cookie choice" above)

To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
